Wendywilldo Nicely

The first day of the Cheltenham Festival proved to be a winning one for Danny when Wendywilldo gave him (& the yard) its first ever Bumper success – the fact it happened at Sedgefield was neither here nor there; the Tuesday of Festival week was special and that’s that!

Wendywilldo is a homebred for Sarah Turner and is the first daughter of Barely Black, who Julia trained prior to Danny taking over the licence.  Blackie achieved a few second places over hurdles but was always going to be a chaser until her career was unfortunately cut short by injury just as she was beginning to come to herself.

Wendy has inherited much of Blackie’s “spirit” and has plenty of attitude, but she was very professional when it counted on Tuesday at Sedgefield.

On ground that was definitely the very soft side of official soft, and that had taken some wear & tear throughout the day, Joe Williamson had Wendy prominent throughout from flag fall.

She was slightly outpaced 2f out but soon picked up to lead inside the final furlong, running on well to score by one & a half lengths at the line.

We are excited to see what the future now holds for this lovely four year old.
