Whilst his Roman Emperor namesake conquered plenty of things back in AD times, our Flavius Titus did some conquering of own at Ripon on Saturday when winning Division II of the 0-65 handicap over 6f.
It quickly became Plan B after Flav dwelt at the start; Plan A being to jump out & make the running. So fair play to jockey Sam James for his quick thinking in reverting to a hold up ride.
The pair started making headway over 1f out, went 3rd inside the final furlong and kept on strongly to win by a cosy 1/2 length at the line.
We were absolutely delighted for connections – Simon, Alison & Matt, and their families, this being their first winner; and happily they were all there to not only witness it but to celebrate accordingly! And also not only for the horse himself but it was a boost for the team at the yard too after a recent string of near misses.
These owners have supported the horse (& the yard) all the way and this win is more than fully deserved.
