Easy D’Ycy!

Following his comprehensive win at Ayr last month after a long lay off, Vasco D’Ycy lined up again in a competitive handicap hurdle at Newcastle on Saturday 18/03 in which plenty looked to have a chance.

Running on unsuitably heavy ground, the front two appeared to have cleared away from him turning into the home straight but our Conditional, Ross Turner soon had him galvanised  and they picked the leaders up with ease.

Jumping the last as if they’d just joined in, Ross drove him out with hands & heels to win by 4 lengths to the delight of Vasco’s owners Kiel & Lyndsay Ward. As an added bonus, their daughter Olivia led Vasco up so she now has a 100% record to maintain!

Their other horse Short Flight also acquitted himself well, having disappointingly been pulled up on his previous outing when struggling to go in the ground. Despite similar heavy conditions, he coped much better this time to finish a creditable third.

A very satisfactory day all round for the Brough Farm team.
