TOWIE for Globetrotter
The only way was indeed Essex for Globetrotter last night as he and Kev had a boys night out at Chelmsford City.
Running in the 0-55 handicap over 1m6f, this was Globetrotter’s 2nd run following a soft palate procedure and the penny had clearly dropped that breathing was good as he ran right through the line in very pleasing fashion.
With 3lb claimer Dylan Hogan taking the ride as a late substitute, the pair travelled comfortably in mid-division of the 9 runners for much of race before making ground from 3f out.
Globetrotter took 2nd place to challenge just over 1f out, and thereafter edged clear to win by 3/4 of a length going away at the line.
This lovely 7 year old hasn’t been without his fragility issues and although he has won over hurdles, this was in fact the first time he’d got his head in front on the flat from a limited number of attempts since joining the yard in 2017. His connections have shown immense patience to give him the time he’s needed and the big chestnut delivered in style for everyone last night.
Special credit must be given to Kev who does all the work with Globetrotter, knows him inside out & absolutely dotes on him.
Mention must also be given to Chelmsford Racecourse who, with it being a night meeting, provided Kev with a room so he could stay over and drive home this morning.
They also however looked after co-owner Shaun Sowray with excellent hospitality and, on discovering that he planned to make the long return journey to North Yorkshire the same night, insisted that he too stayed over and gave him a lovely hotel room as well – above & beyond so a big thank you from us to everyone at Chelmsford City.
