Whoop Whoop Woobay!

It was a first win in four outings since joining the team in May for Woobay last night when she took the Class 4 Handicap over 5f at Ripon under a cool ride from 3lb apprentice Oisin McSweeney.

The mare had to overcome a bad draw and suffered a bump at the start, but she recovered well under Oisin’s guidance to press the leader and then take up the running 2f out.

Despite edging right she then kept on well to prevail from the closest of her 12 rivals by a head.

The achievement was even more special as the mare had run up at Ayr just 24 hours before where she’d been given a terrific ride by Pippa Brown to finish a half length second to the favourite in the Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap over the same trip.

The owners were keen to go again and clearly know their mare very well as it was absolutely the right call.

She’s not an easy girl to deal with but she’s so tough, as she happily proved. And at least she didn’t have quite so far to travel home….!
