A Reassuring Result At Ripon

Despite a numerically quiet time with runners since the resumption of racing we have nonetheless enjoyed getting back to the track, and yesterday at Ripon was an especially good day with the yard’s first winner coming in the final race on the card – the 0-60 Stayers Handicap over 2 miles.

Our representative in the race, Reassurance, was in the unusual position of not being all that well known to us having only been purchased by Danny at the Tattersalls Newmarket Sales the week before!

She was immediately given an entry for this race the day after she went through the ring and it was an astute call from our Assistant Trainer when, under a lovely ride from apprentice Ella McCain, the mare ran a fantastic race despite facing a strong challenge in the final 1/2 furlong to dead-heat on the line.

In a bizarre set of circumstances – the horse with whom we shared the photo also went through the same Sales Ring immediately after Reassurance, had come from the same yard, sold for a similar amount and was also given an entry for this race the day after being purchased. What are the chances?!

We were also delighted for Lynsey Kendall who led up Reassurance. Lynsey was a welcome addition to the team at Brough Farm only last month and this was her first day on duty at the races – that’s quite a strike rate to maintain!

Reassurance is now available to purchase as a whole or part share but only on the proviso that she stays in the yard. She clearly gets a trip and we can’t wait to start schooling her over hurdles for what will hopefully be an exciting future for this lovely five year old.
